Gordon Brown has worked in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) since 1992, during which time he has acquired a wealth of experience working with young people and their families. Gordon has gained this experience in both in-patient and out-patient settings.
In 1992, he qualified as a Registered Mental Nurse (RMN). After qualification, he spent the next 5 years working in the Adolescent (in-patient) Unit at Gartnavel Royal Hospital in Glasgow, progressing through the nursing grades from D to F (Charge Nurse) before moving out to work in the community. His first community post was working as a G Grade Nurse Therapist for 3 years in Yorkhill Hospital, Glasgow.
Following this, he moved to Falkirk (CAMHS) in 1999 to take up the post of Clinical Nurse Specialist (H Grade). In July 2003, he was appointed Child & Adolescent Mental Health Practitioner for Changing Lanes Project. The grading for this post was similar to that of a Clinical Psychologist.
